Emphasizes the learning of grammatical structures and sign vocabulary in meaningful contexts (e.g., introducing oneself, discussing living situations, sharing about family). Topics include making connections with Deaf people, higher institutions for the Deaf, and visual ways of living. ASL and Deaf culture are taught and learned using the immersion method. Prerequisites: None.

Strengthens beginner-level receptive and expressive communication skills acquired in American Sign Language 1. Supports the acquisition of new sign vocabulary and grammar in structured and meaningful dialogues using the immersion approach to ASL learning and Deaf cultural awareness. Topics include cultural products, Deaf communities, and Deaf-related disciplines and careers. Prerequisites: ASL 101 or equivalent.

Other topics are types of stars, galaxies, characteristics of planets, their moons, asteroids, comets and meteoroids. Telescopes are utilized to view the evening sky. Evening observations required.
